A . BUSINESS CHALLENGES THE COMPANY FACED
A Chicago-based logistics company faced aging IT infrastructure at their current colocation facility and decided they no longer wanted to be in the business of owning and maintaining hardware. This client also wanted the control and security of a private cloud infrastructure. This company faced a time constraint to get off of this aging hardware as well as the aging operating systems. They needed a managed IT services provider that was agile enough to meet their needs to minimize downtime.
B. STORCOM’S SOLUTION
Preventing downtime was at the top of the list of requirements for this company. Implementing a solution required significantly more expertise during the architecture, implementation, and operations phases of our solution. In particular, business-critical applications had specific requirements that needed to be addressed. Storcom developed a hybrid cloud infrastructure that met all of our client’s computing, storage, and networking needs. We developed a hybrid cloud migration strategy that allowed them to fully test their application stack prior to the cutover. Storcom also tied 20 remote sites into the network. This meant that completion of the cloud migration project was able to be executed on a Sunday morning in less than four hours.
C. RESULTS
Our client now sees elevated uptime, performance, and overall stability of their systems since their migration into the Storcom Private Cloud. The new hybrid cloud environment allows them to be far more nimble than before when they need to scale up or scale out for application-centric deployment projects like rolling out a new ERP system. Storcom became an extension of our client’s IT department. This means that the client’s IT staff can now focus on more strategic tasks. Overall, our client is very happy with the results of Storcom’s private cloud migration solutions.
